2015!!!

Well, here we are again…a new year! Thank you, Lord!!! Also, happy Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God! 🙂

I’m not really a New Year’s resolutions type of girl, but maybe I need to be. At least a little. 🙂 So here’s what I came up with:

1. Self care. NOT in the sense of pampering or spoiling myself, although there’s nothing wrong with that once in a while! Sadly, I need to focus on the basics of what’s good for me, so that I can better help others. Things like making time for prayer. Getting enough sleep. Making sure I don’t just eat junk 24/7. Drinking enough water. Making sure I get out and socialize every so often. If I don’t make sure to do these things for myself, no one else will, and I’ll be even more burned out. Mostly, I just want to get out of the survival mode that I’ve been in for the past…few years. 😛

2. Cultivate silence. As Mother Teresa said: The fruit of silence is prayer. This is sort of an expansion of the “making time for prayer” bit in my first resolution. I have a LOT of physical and spiritual noise in my life. Of course, the phone is the number one distraction. Internet, y u so entertaining?!? But if I’m really being honest, it’s not only the internet. It’s also the books…sigh. I read 104 books last year; that’s two books a week! I felt so awesome, but also tired!!!! And then on bus rides and walks, I usually have the iPod going, and I just kind of zone out. It’s extremely hard to hear God over all that noise, so my goal is to zone out less and be more in touch with real life.

3. Cultivate joy. Like I said, I want to get out of survival mode! I want to volunteer. I want to make art, and NOT a project from Pinterest! I want to decorate my apartment, go to museums, catch at least one concert, learn a new skill. I feel like I’m always rushing to the next thing; I rarely slow down and enjoy life like I should. 2014 was a blur, and I don’t want 2015 to be the same way.

I think three resolutions are more than enough for a new year, yes? Do you make resolutions? I’d love to read about them!

Until next time, lovelies!
